How to Use Yahoo to Find a Profitable Niche Market

About three weeks ago, I posted a blog entries here titled 'How to Use Google to Find a Profitable Niche Market'. The post explained how to use several free tools provided by Google to identify a profitable niche.

Besides Google, Yahoo is another popular search engine that can help you to research and find a good niche market. Like Google, Yahoo provides a number of good tools you can use to find profitable niche markets.

The Yahoo directory is where you will find a list of all the categories Yahoo has to offer. You can click on a topic and narrow your scope until you find websites that provide information and resources.

Other tools helpful for your niche market research are:

Yahoo Search Marketing
Yahoo search marketing used to be called Yahoo Overture, but changed its name when Yahoo decided to add services to those advertising on Yahoo search engine results. If you want to use the tools provided by Yahoo search marketing, you will have to open a free account by visiting .

With your account, you will be able to research the popularity of the topics on your list, the average bid on keywords by other businesses, and which markets keywords are used most often. If you have a bunch of very broad topics on your list, you can break them down by creating a list of keywords that best describes the topic.

Begin your search by entering in keywords to see how popular they are by those surfing the Internet.

Keywords that have been searched more than 50,000 times in one month may be too popular to be considered a niche market. On the other hand, keywords that have been searched less than 10,000 times in a month may not have enough interest to be profitable. You should try to find keywords that have been searched between 10,000 and 50,000 times in one month. This means that there is enough interest in the niche and there may be little competition.

Once you have narrowed your topics, visit Google and use their bid tools to see if the results are similar.

Yahoo Buzz
Yahoo buzz is a great place to find ideas for niche by getting a better idea about what people are searching for online. Similar to Google Zeitgeist, you will be given a list of hot topics that can be turned into keywords for your research. Visit http://buzz.yahoo.com for more information.

After narrowing down your list and finding a few niche groups that look promising, it's time to begin putting your product together. Since the majority of those who earn an income sell information in the form of an eBook, or special report, your product will probably be digitally based. This means it can be downloaded directly from your site to the user's computer after they pay for it.

Because niche markets have a limited life span, you will need to act quickly in putting together your materials so you can sell them before the trend wears off or competition becomes too fierce. But if you are unsure as to which products to offer, the following websites can help you find products that appeal to your niche group.
