Tips for Choosing a Web Host for Your Money Making Website

your online business and one of the most important steps is choosing a web hosting company to publish your website on the Internet so that your target prospects can find your website and see what you are offering. You have a few of options in selecting a web host:
  • Free web hosting - The company hosts your site absolutely free, but they will place their own ads on your site.
  • Shared web hosting - The company hosts your website together with many other sites on one web server. Many online businesses use Shared Web hosting.
  • Dedicated servers - The company use the entire server to host your site only, not shared with anyone. Needed for large traffic site but the cost is high.
When thinking about these hosting options and choosing a web host that meets your business needs, there are several questions to ask yourself to make the web host selecting process easier:

1. Are you ok with your web hosting company adding their ads on your site? If you run a content-based website that makes money online with Google AdSense and affiliate programs, then you may accept free web host that places ads on your site. But if you are selling products and services, you'll want your site look very professional, so free web host probably isn’t for you.

2. Would you upload a lot of audio and video files on your website? You'll need plenty of bandwidth for a website that uses a lot of audio and video. So, you may consider using a dedicated server, or at least choose a web host that provide heavy amount of bandwidth.

3. Do you expect to host more than one website on a single web hosting account? If yes, choose a web host provider that can give a least 5 domains add-on. And if you also need subdomains, check the offer of the web host provider to see whether they provide the facility to set up a good number of subdomains as well.

4. Are you running various websites with different staff members? You are likely to use multiple email accounts for your different online business websites. So, when selecting a web host company, choose the one that doesn’t charge extra for setting up multiple email accounts, and make sure the host can provide sufficient email addresses.

5. Are you using scripts, either within a website, or as the backend of a website (such as a content management system (CMS), blogging platform, or e-commerce system)? If yes, you should specifically read your web hosting package to find out whether the host supports the various scripts that your website will require.

6. How much downtime you can tolerate? Downtime means your website goes offline, you are losing visitors and profit. To ensure these wouldn’t happen to you, check out the uptime guarantee offered by the web host and the technical support they can provide if downtime really occurs.

7. Do you want to use the hosting company for long term without thinking about switching to another web host? If so, then choosing a pre-paid yearly web host plan is a good option to save money. But, if the freedom to change hosts is more important than saving web hosting cost, then you are advised to go with a monthly web hosting plan.

8. What types of technical support and assistance you expect from your web hosting company? Some offer help and support only via email and FAQ; some offer good support via phone, email, and even live chats but only available during business hours; other offer all kind technical supports 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

Answering all the questions above would help you a lot in choosing a right web host company for your online business. But before really choosing a web host, identify what your online business need from a host would make you understand clearly what type of web hosting service you want.
